This analysis fails to see the obvious: a big chunk of the "left wing" gains are for the S&D group that currently supports Ursula von der Leyen, a sort of reincarnated Margaret Thatcher, who has no issues promoting far right policies, especially when it comes to migration. There is no migration crisis anywhere in Europe. If you notice, you can see that the countries with the biggest gains for the Right are the same countries who have dealt with constant non-stop terror attacks from unvetted migrants, for example Germany with the AFD and France with the National Rally. It only seems like the Nordic Left "did well" because they didn't lose even a tenth in the way the continental Left did.

There's just not as much energy for climate stuff when war ravages on in Europe. Ukraine has been trying to engage them by raising awareness of ecocide but they aren't biting.
