This analysis fails to see the obvious: a big chunk of the "left wing" gains are for the S&D group that currently supports Ursula von der Leyen, a sort of reincarnated Margaret Thatcher, who has no issues promoting far right policies, especially when it comes to migration. There is no migration crisis anywhere in Europe. The public is intoxicated with racism while experiencing the worst living cost crisis in many decades, all of this while the political center continues to manage the same old failed austerity policies.

I gotta give him credit, he has balls to gamble like this. With these elections, he could end up losing even more. Afaik he still stays in power until 2027 but there's a good chance that he could get cucked in the Parliament to the point where he can't pass any of his laws, like a Siting Duck President.

Its not that the Nordics moved Left, rather they just stayed the same give or take a seat won here and there, and it's because even alot of the Leftwing parties are anti-Immigration. And the Immigration issue was more or less the sole reason why the last EU elections were a disaster for the general Left. If you notice, you can see that the countries with the biggest gains for the Right are the same countries who have dealt with constant non-stop terror attacks from unvetted migrants, for example Germany with the AFD and France with the National Rally. It only seems like the Nordic Left "did well" because they didn't lose even a tenth in the way the continental Left did.

Some people are confused about why people voted Right when nothing will change; It's not about the immediate change, but the immediate message it's sending to the Left. The Left + traditional Rightwing parties have been utter failures for the people of Europe the past 60 years, and the people (namely the Youth) are tired of being fucked. So this is just to scare the current ruling Left to tell them that their time is nigh on done.

The loss of seats by the Greens is troubling because most people now realize that climate change and its consequences are going to be a continuing disaster. Any other issue pales by comparison. It is totally irrational to ignore it but people would rather massage their prejudices and hates against others than help themselves.

Turkey does NOT recognise an EU member state; Cyprus Also against UN resolutions keeps 40,000 occupying troops on the northern part Also receives billions from EU to keep refugees and to reaccept those who have been arrested crossing its borders to EU... the later is rarely followed Also a lot of industries german, spanish , french have invested in Turkey.... Being an EU connected-member state (no customs), having a weak currency, and lower working cost is beneficial for these industries... If Turkey were to join... both parties will stand to lose .... Turkey loosing some of its competitiveness and having to adhere to stricter political environmental and human rights rules.... european interest companies losing also having bigger production costs

This video, IMO, seems to be unduly Euro-skeptical - - especially because it overexaggerates the idea of European "fragmentation." There has been no fragmentation, in the sense that the same party groups exist as before. The only changes are relatively slight decreases for Renew/Green and slight increases for ID/ECR. That HARDLY AMOUNTS TO FRAGMENTATION.

Its better to be united than to create a country that has right, mid or left. When a country is going to fail no matter how good the system - even a democracy is, it will fail too. What makes a free, varies & liberal immigration even worst is the country will be divided & uncontrollable. Riot & civil war will follow

For Finland, having Russia as a neighbor makes you want to see a strong European counter movement to fascism. Unlike e.g. Le Pen, the Finnish far-right has tried to distance itself from the Kremlin. The moderate right is currently in government with the far-right and, interestingly, campaigned in the European Parliament elections on a liberal democratic platform, trying to distance itself from both the Finnish far-right and the Kremlin. Long story short: For months, we heard that Europe was going far-right, so the pendulum would have to swing in the other direction. It is a message in favor of freedom, democracy, and the rule of law. Greens did not do great which seems to be a common theme everywhere. There's just not as much energy for climate stuff when war ravages on in Europe. Ukraine has been trying to engage them by raising awareness of ecocide but they aren't biting.
